What is a Momma Vlog? Meet: Erica from Gra8ful8 on our Podcast!

Have you ventured into the awesome world of Momma Vlogs?  You may ask, what is a momma vlog?  They are short video blogs that moms post on YouTube to share their thoughts, routines, hauls, crafts, homeschool days, dinners and anything else that is on their mind. It’s like blogging on three shots of expresso!  Such fun!

If you haven’t checked out vlogs, you’re missing out. I picked one of my favorite momma vloggers to give us a peek into momma vlogging on youtube. She is Erica, from Gra8ful8, a fun, wonderful homeschooling momma of 5.  Listen to our interview with her  and take a peek into her world of video blogging.

Ladies, whether you are just curious about those homeschoolers next door, are considering homeschooling, or have been in the game for over a decade like myself, you’re not going to want to miss this one! Homeschool curriculum expert Cathy Duffy gracefully allowed us to peek into her brain on our podcast. She goes way beyond homeschooling 101 as she shares her thoughts about controversial homeschool topics like the use of charter schools, early childhood learning, and even common core.  Please share this with all of your friends as Ms. Duffy is a true GEM of information and wisdom. Please leave us some feedback and let us know if you’d like us to do more of this type of interview. Thanks so much! -claudia 🙂

A Day in the Life of A Homeschool Mom

Wanna know what it takes to be an Amazing Home School Momma? Are you like me and just love to peak into other homeschoolers’ typical days? Then you’ve come to the right place!

I invited one of my most favorite You Tube Homeschooling Mommas to share her secrets. Listen along as we walk with Nicole Venters through her homeschool routine.

It was a lovely time and I hope you join the conversation too by leaving us a review on itunes or a question or comment here on the blog.  You can find our guest and links to all of her social media outlets over at her blog,  Half Mom Half Amazing .

***A special note: We’d like to send our thoughts and prayers to the San Bernardino families and community at large. I happened to be podcasting in California about 3 to 4 miles away, as the crow flies, from the 2015 attack and so you will hear some confusion at the beginning of the show.

My daughter rescues the show as poor Nicole tries to figure out why she’s alone on the air! We continued to podcast, as everything seemed normal in my neighborhood. I locked the doors and life moved on as normal.

However, once we finished podcasting, I turned on the news and the next few days were pretty terrifying. I mention all of this for a couple of reasons: One, to show our love and respect for the victims and two, to show that we must continue to stay on the path that God has placed before us.

If homeschooling is your calling, then the show must go on. We must not be paralyzed by fear of the unknown. We continue with our mission to raise these children for the Lord, and I believe that if we do so faithfully, they can be a light in this sometimes dark and scary world.

So enough blogging, let’s listen to the show!

Did You Just Call Me A Minority?

U.S. born children of mixed ethnicities may not relate to a single culture and simply consider themselves American.  It may actually be a shocker to them to find out that they are considered a minority in society.

In fact, the word minority may not even be a part of their vocabulary leaving them to conclude that it may be a bad word.  So when you tell them they are a minority, they will inevitably reply “Did you just call me a minority?”.

So what is a parent left to do . . . show them to embrace their ethnic background or encourage them to blend into the melting pot?  How does one explain how society might see them from an ethnic perspective when they feel there is nothing different about them?

Did You Just Call Me A Minority

Join Claudia and I as we open up this topic for discussion.  Can’t listen now?  No problem . . . download the episode as an MP3 directly from this player and listen later while you drive or are doing chores 😉
